‘House unity…’ I snort to myself. What a joke.
Head boy and girl are announced, not surprised to hear Granger and I have been chosen. Dumbledore looked worse for wear, Granger’s little bodyguards were mysteriously missing; why they’d leave their precious bookworm behind was beyond me. Regardless, I had orders of my own.
That’s when I notice her mouth something in my direction. I look away, trying to avoid her brown orbs as they search mine from across the tables.
‘Are you alright?’
No, she hadn’t the slightest idea what was in store for her, all of them.

Draco wanted to recover something, some idea of himself perhaps, that had gone into loving Hermione. His life had been confused and disordered since then, but if he could once return to a certain starting place and go over it all slowly, he could find out what that thing was.
“Don’t leave me.” The words escaped his lips so fluidly that it left me surprised. However, I was able to collect myself immediately and I smiled at him.
“Of course, I won’t,” I replied. His grip around my hands tightened and he was beaming back at me. I grinned at how childishly possessive he was at the moment- as much as it’s annoying at times, it’s actually pretty cute.
